PM Instructs Labour Minister to Work with Administration, Military and Policy to Check for Illegal Foreign Workers in Nakhon Pathom

          On May 28, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Pol.Maj.Gen. Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to visit Nakhon Pathom to check the work of foreigners to prevent illegal work. The efforts follow the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha’s instructions for the Ministry of Labour to work with the Security Department, the military, police, and the Administration Department, to work as one to intensify surveillance, prevent and suppress illegal immigration, and control the situation following measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among workers in the workplace.
          Pol.Maj.Gen Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said that today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned him to visit the Nakhon Pathom area to check the work of foreigners in the workplace. The efforts aim to prevent illegal foreign worker employment following government policy. Deputy Governor of Nakhon Pathom Mr. Apinan Phueakphong, Bang Len Sheriff, Nakhon Pathom Immigration Officers, Nakhon Pathom ISOC Officers, and Nakhon Pathom Employment Officers also joined the occasion at the Freshwater Fish Market, Banglen Fisheries Development, Bang Len District, Nakhon Pathom Province. The visit examined foreign workers found ten offenders who did not have a work permit or a valid residence permit to remain in the Kingdom. Relevant parties will be taken to prosecution.
          Employers found employing foreigners to work without a work permit will face a fine of 10,000 – 100,000 Baht per foreign worker. Repeated offenses are punishable by imprisonment, and the employer is forbidden to hire foreigners to work for the next three years. Foreign workers working without permits face a fine of 5,000 – 50,000 Baht and are sent back to their country outside the Kingdom. Such offenders cannot apply for a work permit until two years from the offense. If anyone sees or suspects that a foreigner is working illegally, they can report clues to the Provincial Employment Office in every province, the Bangkok Employment Office, area 1-10, or the Ministry of Labour’s hotline by calling 1506 press 2 for the Department of Employment.
