Tha Yang Market Vendors in Phetchaburi Delighted for PM and Labour Minister’s Visit

Content Description

On September 22, 2021, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha visited the area to meet and visit groups of informal and self-employed workers in the Tha Yang Municipal Market Area in Phetchaburi Province. The workers had applied as insured persons under Section 40. They received compensation from the government for 5,000 Baht each, following the Social Security Office’s transfer of remedies to insured persons under Section 40 in the 16 dark red provinces on September 20, including Phetchaburi province. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, and related agencies also participated in the visit at the Tha Yang Municipal Market, Tha Yang District, Phetchaburi Province. Mr. Suchart said that Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan are concerned about the workers affected by the CCSA’s COVID-19 control measures in the dark red area. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office was instructed to open up registrations to informal and self-employed workers to apply as insured persons under Section 40, receive 5,000 Baht each from the government, and access other government assistance measures in the future too.
Mr. Suchart said that the transfer of remedies to support Section 40 insured persons in the 16 newly registered provinces is 5,000 Baht each. The cash support is not much, which will help alleviate and reduce the burden of living expenses and the cost of living in the daily life of self-employed workers. The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister and the government’s intention to allow self-employed persons to enter the social security system, receive government compensation, and access future state aid measures so that everyone and every group can access welfare and overcome this COVID-19 situation together.
