Workforce Builds on Multi-Tasking Skills for a Digital Thailand

Content Description

Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti chaired the commencement of the seminar on ‘Digital Technology Trends and the Impact on the Ministry of Labour’s Direction towards Thailand 4.0’. In her address she said, “This seminar aims to solidify understanding and prepare for the government and Ministry of Labour’s assignments on becoming a digital economy. Not only will this impact national and global society and economy on the wider scale, but it also implies a paradigm shift in the way we think and operate. We must be faster, more capable and be able to respond to the people’s needs so that we can drive national development, escape the middle income trap, resolve inequality and produce a highly capable workforce, recognized at both the regional and global level.”
“The Ministry of Labour has put emphasis on aligned understanding for cyber security, block chain technology and utilization of big data –current trends that we need to know about for the upcoming year. We must understand the issues before forming the Ministry of Labour and Office of the Permanent Secretary’s 5-year digital plans (2017-2021) – this means that we have to adapt quickly. This seminar’s participants have the opportunity to understand and prepare before others. This is the start of building on multi-tasking skills which are capabilities demanded by all organizations in the digital world, to be used in parallel with major changes at the ministry, department and individual level within the Ministry of Labour,” conclude the Permanent Secretary.
The seminar’s 100 participants included executive members, officials and officers from the Ministry of Labour’s affiliated units. Speakers were experts from different units and relevant digital organizations, including members of faculty from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.
