On August 23, 2021, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suchart Pornchaiwisetkun presided over the opening ceremony of the training and receiving the Labour Minister’s policy on the training program for Minister Counselors (on Labour) and Labour Advisors stationed in Overseas Labour Offices for the 2021 fiscal year. The training took place online via Zoom Meetings, at the Permanent Secretary of Labour’s meeting room, 7th floor, Ministry of Labour. The training was held between August 23 -27, 2021. Today’s occasion was a report on the plans and performance results from Overseas Labour Offices by Minister Counselors (on Labour) and the supervision of Overseas Labour Offices by the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals. The effort was divided into regions as follows: 1. The Southeast Asia Region (Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore). 2. East Asia Region (Hong Kong, Japan, Republic of Korea, Taipei, and Kaohsiung), and 3. On August 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the transfer of remedies under relief measures for workers and companies affected by COVID-19 in the 29 highest controlled provinces. As of yesterday (August 20, 2021), two relief payments have been made. The first is remedies to Section 33 insured persons in the 16 provinces for 249,235 people. A total of 217,817 transactions were successful, accounting for 87 percent; 31,418 were unsuccessful, accounting for 13 percent. The successful transfers were valued at 544,542,500 Baht. The second payments were to employers in the 13 provinces for 16,621 establishments. A total of 16,364 transactions were successful, accounting for 98.4 percent; 257 were unsuccessful, accounting for 1.6 percent. The successful transfers were valued at 694,446,000 Baht. The funds from this effort will help alleviate the troubles among insured persons and employers and help reduce the burden of living expenses from the impact of lockdown measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. On August 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has carried out COVID-19 vaccinations. The first dose has been given to over 1.3 million Section 33 insured persons since June 7. The working group on the management and distribution of the vaccine has prepared a vaccination center to serve Section 33 insured persons with the second dose of vaccinations, which will begin on August 16, 2021.
