Labour Minister Clarifies Progress on Request of Three Labour Unions

          The Labour Minister clarified the assistance provided to employees from three labour unions who submitted a request for a report on the progress and assistance. Solutions are being expedited to support the workers.           On September 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin clarified the case of three labor unions consisting of the Triumph International Workers’ Union of Thailand, Body Fashion (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and the TOSTEM Thai Workers’ Union, who filed a request on the progress of assistance in the event that the employees were terminated.           On September 17, 2021, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha visited to follow up on the Factory Sandbox project at Mitsubishi Motor Company Limited (Laem Chabang), Thung Sukla Subdistrict, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Chonburi Provincial Governor Mr. Pakrathorn Thienchai, Chairman of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. MOL Employee Welfare Fund Committee Meets for 12/2021

          On September 13, 2021, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the Employee Welfare Fund Committee Meeting No. 12/2021 via electronic media. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General, Mr. Apinya Sucharitanan, department executives, government representatives, employers, employee representatives, and related officers attended this meeting. The meeting considered the 3-year digital action plan (2021 – 2023) and the year 2022 of the Employee Welfare Fund, disposal of debt from the Employee Welfare Fund as bad debt, and requests for allowances other than compensation. MOL Presents Certificates of Appreciation to Organizations Supporting Vaccinations for Section 33 Insured Persons

          On August 31, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mrs. Wantana Natthaphunwat, head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi, the Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health Office and Ban Lat Hospital staff to visit the area to present a certificate of appreciation to the private sector for their contribution in providing facilities and hospitals in the social security network for supporting medical personnel in the COVID-19 vaccinations to Section 33 insured persons. They also visited the administration of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination services for Section 33 insured persons at the basement of Robinson Lifestyle Shopping Center, Phetchaburi Branch, which can vaccinate 1,250 people daily. MOL Monitors Factory Sandbox Project in Samut Sakhon

          On August 28, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, to visit the Samut Sakhon Factory Sandbox project at Unicord PCL. Mr. Boonsong said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, have given importance to the prevention and control of the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. MOL Spokesperson Reminds Section 39 Insured Persons in 13 Provinces to Link PromptPay Accounts to Receive Remedies

          On August 24, 2021, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, reported the first round of payment for remedies to insured persons under Section 39 in 13 provinces, covering nine types of businesses, amounting to 5,000 Baht. The payments were made yesterday (August 23, 2021) to eligible insured persons in Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, and Songkhla, with the addition of Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. There was a total of 1,123,746 transfers, with 1,020,852 successful transfers and 102,894 unsuccessful transfers. The unsuccessful transfers were that 99,940 accounts weren’t linked to PromptPay, 1,412 were closed accounts, 972 people had no accounts, 11 people had accounts limited to certain criteria, 112 were incorrect accounts numbers, and 447 were unable to make the transfer.           Mrs. Theanrat said that insured persons who have not received remedies due to unsuccessful transfer could check the list of unsuccessful transactions at the Social Security Office’s website on www.sso.go.th. MOL Spokesperson Reports Government Process on Supporting Employment for Over 100,000 New Graduates

          On August 24, 2021, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, revealed that the COVID-19 situation from 2020 to the present had affected businesses and jobs worldwide. Thailand has been affected by employment in tourism and service businesses. Still, the manufacturing and export sectors, especially in the automotive, electronic circuit board, medical equipment, and frozen food industries, have a great demand for workers. This is because many countries are unable to export products. The government under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has not been inactive. It gives great importance to workers looking for a job, especially new graduates impacted by COVID-19. PM Concerned For Freelance Workers and Accelerate Section 40 Remedies of 5,000 Baht to August 24

          On August 23, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress on the payment of remedies to workers and entrepreneurs in the highest controlled provinces. He said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned about self-employed people in agriculture, fisheries, hawker stalls, taxi groups, general contractors, restaurant staff, front desk staff, singers, musicians, night workers, and freelancers, who have applied for Section 40 to receive 5,000 Baht per person in compensation. The payment was made through transfer via a PromptPay account linked to their ID number, made to insured persons in the 16 additional provinces which announced lockdowns, namely, Kanchanaburi, Samut Songkhram, Suphan Buri, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Ang Thong, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Lop Buri, Rayong, Sing Buri, Saraburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phetchabun, and Tak, including the three provinces that had previously announced lockdown, namely Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, for a total of 19 provinces.
