On February 26, 2020, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Niyom Songkaew, the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Ms. Kanchana Hanchaisr, the Department of Skill Developments Inspector-General Mr. Wirat Khansorn, inspected the Joint Service Center in Nong Khai, at Phon Phisai district and traveled to meet Bueng Kan Deputy Governor Mr. Sanit Khao-sa-at. He attended a meeting with the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Bueng Kan, to monitor the performance according to the government budget plan for 2020. The inspection found that agencies under the Ministry of Labour followed the work plan/project under the government/ministry’s policies and that most of the performance is on target. As for the results of the budget disbursement in 2019, the target has not yet been achieved. On February 26, 2020, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Pairoj Chotikasatian visited the government inspection area in Pattani, along with the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Pattani. He visited the Pattani District Labour Center, whereby Pattani District Chief Mr. Adul Myadsoen welcomed the visiting committee and listened to the performance report from the chairman of labour graduates. He gave a closing speech and certificates to trainees for specific target labour training programs, providing vocational skills to target groups with activities to increase career opportunities for informal workers in the field of woven bags and plastic-lined baskets (18 hours) between February 24-26, 2020. The Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson reported that the Ministry of Labour has 3 measures to support termination when factories close, including surveillance before termination, post-termination, and in the long-term. He reiterated that data from the Ministry of Industry found that there are more newly opened factories than those that closed, by up to 88.0 percent, or almost double, while the Department of Employment has filled roles with 54,494 people. On February 26, 2020, at 11.00 hours, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General Mr. Apinya Sujarittanan reported the situation of factory shutdowns at the Parliament building. He said that from the Ministry of Industry’s data on February 24, 2020, according to the registration of factories under category 2 and 3 of the year 2019, it was found that although 1,689 factories were closed, 3,175 new factories opened. The Social Security Office’s Secretariat Mr. Todsaphon Kritwongwiman, assigned the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Ms. Pailin Chindamaneeporn led representative groups and insurers under Section 40. Mr. Phatthaphong Kittiwiriyaphant, along with the faculty of Social Security Networks and representative insurers under Section 40 from the central region, consisting of 6 provinces including Suphanburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Ang Thong, Pathum Thani, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, which are 26 independent worker representatives.
