MOL Prepares to Expand Skilled Thai Workers in Japan in 14 Career Fields

                On June 26, 2020, at 10.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the commencement of the meeting to clarify operational guidelines for hiring skilled workers to work in Japan. The meeting was with organizations that deploy workers abroad under the technical training program in Japan, for 51 organizations through the video conference system. The meeting took place at the job training room before overseas deployment, 11th floor, Social Security Office Building, Bangkok Area 3, Ministry of Labour.                 Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Suoksol said that the delivery of Thai workers to Japan is a matter that the Ministry of Labour focuses on and continuously monitors. On February 4, 2020, the Ministry of Labour has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on basic information for the organization and accommodation of skilled workers (MOC) with four relevant agencies in Japan, including the Ministry of Justice. MP Anusee Visits Mo Chit Bus Terminal to Send Myanmar Workers Home

            Today (June 19, 2020) Member of Parliament and spokesperson for the Labour Commission Ms. Anusee Tubsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General Mr. Cherdsak Wisuttikul visited the area to meet, give food and informative handouts to educate migrant workers about their benefits as a worker in Thailand (in Burmese). They also joined in the send-off of Myanmar foreign to the Thai-Myanmar border province, to return home to the country. The workers will travel from Mo Chit Bus Terminal to the crossing point in Mae Sot, Tak. The occasion took place at the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak), Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok. Labour Minister’s Assistant Clears Payment for Unemployment from Force Majeure to Expedite Remaining Payments Quickly

                The Labour Minister’s Assistant observed operations at the reporting center at the Social Security Office’s Headquarters in Nonthaburi, urging officers to conduct inspections on a case-by-case basis so that employees whose names are missing can receive benefits as soon as possible.                 On May 28, 2020, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat observed the operations of the reporting center at the Social Security Office (Headquarters), Nonthaburi. He said that he had met with insured persons under Article 33 who filed for support, complaints, and appeals from filing for compensation in the event of unemployment due to force majeure. There were still insured persons under Article 33 that were affected by COVID-19, including groups of people who had traveled for themselves and from seeing information from the “Draft Duangrit” Facebook page, who had contacted the center for help, totaling over 1,000 people. From discussions with insured persons, some had not received unemployment compensation from delays in the payment of contributions. MOL Drives Model Farm Project to Promote Self-Employment in a Fight Against COVID-19

            On May 26, 2020, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson observed the progress of “The COVID-19 Resistant Farm Project Model” at the Farm Project Model initiated by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in Ratchaburi Province, Tanaosri, Suan Phueng, Ratchaburi. She said that the Ministry of Labour has a sense of divine grace for His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen in providing an area on the model farm following the initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The project has resulted in employment in the area, which is an urgent employment activity. As a result of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, many businesses have closed and employees terminated, causing workers to face unemployment, a lack of income, and returning to their hometowns. MOL Invites Donations to the Foundation for Children Impacted by COVID-19

            The Ministry of Labour invites all generosity in donating to the Foundation for Children, caring for over 210 children affected by the COVID-19 virus outbreak, in preparation to maintain the privileges of staff within the foundation. The effort is in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to look after and help children.             On May 12, 2020, at 13.00 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet welcomed the Foundation for Children’s Committee Secretary Mrs. Ratchanee Thongchai, and committee. The visiting committee met to seek advice, as the Foundation for Children was affected by the Covid-19 virus outbreak, where donation amounts to the foundation have decreased. MOL Reiterates for Agencies to Integrate with Provincial Offices on COVID-19 Prevention Among Foreign Workers

                The Ministry of Labour emphasized for all related agencies to integrate with provincial offices for public relations efforts in local areas to create awareness on ways to prevent illness and maintain health among employers and employees in the workplace, including workers’ camps. The initiative aims to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus among migrant workers.                 Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson, reported the progress on measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus among foreign workers. The Ministry of Labour has instructed associated agencies under the leadership of the Provincial Labour Offices, Provincial Employment Offices, and Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Offices to work with agencies in each province to publicize the awareness of urgent measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among foreign worker groups. Labour Minister Moves Forward in Comprehensive Support for Insured Persons

            Labour Minister M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul has moved forward in supporting insured workers and instructed the Social Security Office to issue urgent remedies and improve measures to be in line with the continuing spread of the Covid-19 virus.             M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul revealed that since initial occurrences of the Covid-19 virus in Thailand, it has now become a crisis. The Labour Minister has instructed all of the Ministry of Labour’s departments to place measures to support workers, whereby the Social Security Office’s measures which have passed the Cabinet are: Reducing employer and employee contribution rates under Section 33 and 39. – A total of 13,346,143 insured persons will receive benefits. 2.                 The Surat Thani Social Security Office, commenced the project to create electronic employer files, focusing on converting the paper-based system into electronic file storage. Labour Minister Commences Electronic Employer File Project in Samut Sakhon

          The Labour Minister commenced the project to create electronic employer files. The Social Security Office has set a target of over 900,000 files as an important mechanism for changing the Ministry of Labour’s work processes into Thailand 4.0. MOL Creates Employer Information Database to Welcome e-Government Services

                On March 4, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Lt. Gen. Nanthadet Meksawat chaired the opening ceremony of the process adjustment project for the preparation of employer files, and a workshop for the staff to create electronic employer files. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat joined the opening ceremony, whereby the Social Security Office’s Secretariat Mr. Todsaphon Kritwongwiman gave a report.             On February 26, 2020, at 09.00 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian visited the Labour Inspection Area in Mueang Pattani, together with the head of government and officials under the Ministry of Labour.
