Preview Download Images           Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the commencement and awarding ceremony to honour outstanding divisions and officers within the Social Security Office, on the occasion of the offices’ 27th anniversary this 3 September 2017; the event took place at the office’s multi-purpose building. The Labour Minister spoke about the Social Security Department’s focus on building solid foundations for the over 12 million insurers. Over the past 3 years, the Ministry of Labour has reformed provisions of social security such as increasing benefits, developing electronic communication channels for convenience and speed. In its 28th year, the Social Security Office will take on an important role as host for the 34th ASEAN Social Security Association Meeting in Udon Thani. Labour Minister Instructs Suspension of Thai Labour Deployment to Conflict-Risk Countries Following Talks with Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Assigns Permanent Secretary to Establish 24-Hour War Room to Monitor and Assist Thai Workers

Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, addressed the situation of rising tensions in the Middle East, stating that she has instructed Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of Labour, is to establish a war room to monitor the situation and coordinate assistance for Thai workers in the region. The war room, located on the 5th floor of the Ministry of Labour, will operate 24 hours a day and be ready to provide support should the situation escalate to the point of evacuation. The Minister of Labour stated that evacuation is the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and if directed by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Labour stands ready to support the mission. All actions will depend on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ assessment of the level of risk and whether evacuation is necessary. At present, labour offices have been instructed to closely monitor the situation and be prepared to assist and relocate Thai workers to safe areas if they are affected. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Attends Ceremony to Present Vocational Training Toolkits to Self-Employed Workers

            February 27, 2026, 10.00 hours – Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, attended as a guest of honour at the ceremony to present basic vocational training toolkits or livelihood toolkits. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, who presented the basic training toolkits. Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Director-General of the Department of Skills Development, delivered the report, with executives of the Ministry of Labour also present as guests of honour. The event took place at the Meeting Room, 6th Floor, DSD Building, Department of Skill Development.             A total of 74 trainees from five training cohorts received livelihood toolkits following completion of their training programmes in Professional Bakery Production and Street Food Preparation. The toolkits provided included electric ovens, food mixers, high-pressure gas stove sets with accessories, gas grill sets with accessories, and electric air fryers.           September 27, 2025 – Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, presided over the opening ceremony of the Job Fair Zone at the Thailand–China Cooperation Expo 2025. Also in attendance were Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Wichit Intaracharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Employment, and senior executives from the Ministry of Labour. He was joined by Kaori Nakamura-Osaka, Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific at the International Labour Organization, and Michaela Friberg-Storey, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand, at the Pullman King Power Hotel in Bangkok. Permanent Secretary Welcomes 22 Thai Workers Returning from Israel After Completion of Employment Term, with 9 Additional Requests for Repatriation

June 23, 2025, 20.00 hours – Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, together with Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Labour, and Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and accompanying officials, welcomed and extended encouragement to 22 Thai workers who were employed by Chemo Aharon Ltd. in Israel. These workers, engaged in the industrial sector under two-year contracts, were part of a short-term project that has now concluded, leading to their return to Thailand. The Permanent Secretary stated that these workers were originally scheduled to return to Thailand on June 16, 2025, but due to the unusual and unstable situation, their return was delayed. The company, Chemo Aharon Ltd., arranged return flights and covered all expenses for the workers, including airfare, visa fees, meals, and ground transportation to Amman Airport. June 9, 2025, 18.00 hours local time, Geneva, Switzerland – Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, took part in a key mission at the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), the world’s leading tripartite labour forum. He witnessed Thailand’s official vote, represented by Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, and Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, who cast a vote on behalf of the government to approve the ILO’s work plan and budget. May 31, 2025 – Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, shared a media briefing following his response to questions during the House of Representatives budget deliberation on the 2026 Fiscal Year Budget Bill, affirming that he addressed all concerns raised by the opposition with clarity and precision.  Mr. Phiphat stated that the increased 2026 Fiscal Year budget allocation for the Ministry of Labour will support key programs under the Department of Skill Development, including procurement of computer and AI systems. May 14, 2025 – The Ministry of Labour, under the leadership of Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, has taken another step toward opening the South Korean construction market to Thai workers. The Minister held formal talks with the Specialty Contractors Association of the Republic of Korea, a large organization representing over 56,000 member companies nationwide. April 28, 2025 — Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, and Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, led a delegation of senior executives to Nakhon Phanom Province to conduct a comprehensive inspection of labour-related operations. The visit was in conjunction with the official Mobile Cabinet Meeting aimed at strengthening the grassroots economy in the Upper Northeastern Region 2 (Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, and Sakon Nakhon). Mr. Sakwiwat Khampong, President of the Nong Yang Chin Subdistrict Administrative Organization, also participated. On March 29, 2025, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, chaired the War Room Meeting of the Coordination and Assistance Center for Workers Affected by the Earthquake at the Ministry of Labour and held a teleconference with the affected provincial labour offices. Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, and executives and officials from all departments under the Ministry of Labour attended the meeting.
