Labour Minister Delighted of Public’s Opinion on MOL Performance; Commends and Encourages Officials to Drive Missions to Overcome the Covid-19 Crisis

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin was delighted to see the RIDC poll results from the Innovation and Digital Research Center of the College of Innovation and Management, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. The results revealed that the public was satisfied with the overall performance and work of the government. The Ministry of Labour was ranked among the top five, and civil servants were praised for helping each other at full capacity. The Labour Minister confirmed to drive missions through the Covid-19 crisis.           On December 29, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the RIDC poll results from the Innovation and Digital Research Center of the College of Innovation and Management. MOL Drives Policies to Promote Work to do at Home

            On December 29, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Aumphan Thuvavit chaired the subcommittee’s meeting to drive policy and promote work to do at home. The meeting has considered the protection plan for home workers and informed the monitoring, prevention, and control of occupational disease and diseases caused by employers and homeworkers’ environment. The meeting also summarized the meeting results to present the request for “informal worker recovery from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic” by informal worker representatives and report on the implementation of the policy to promote work to do at home 2020. MOL Greets HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Opening of the Red Cross Online 2020 Event

           On December 19, 2020, at 15.00 hours, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Director of the Thai Red Cross Society graciously opened an online Red Cross event for 2020. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol greeted Her Royal Highness and presented offerings at the 1210 Auditorium, 12th Floor, Zone B, Bhumisirimangkhanusorn Building, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society. The Thai Red Cross Society has adapted the online Red Cross event in the name of “Red Cross Online 2020” to reduce the chance of exposure of the virus under the concept of “Connectivity of Giving.” The initiative aligns with this year’s event that exhibitors can visit the fair from anywhere, at any time. There are various activities within the event such as the online Red Cross shop design contest, the Red Cross favourties vote, products for sale at special prices and live concerts from artists. MOL Organizes Two-Day Workshop to Resolve Child Labour, Forced Labour and Human Trafficking

            On December 15, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattaraporn Samantarat to preside over a two-day workshop to solve issues of child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking by the ATLAS Project by Winrock International Organization, under the academic and budget support from the United States Department of Labour. The occasion took place at the Marriott Hotel in Bangkok. She said that it is well known that, most recently, Thailand was ranked in Tier 2 in the TIP Report 2020 from the US Department of State, leading to three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020. Thailand has been ranked in finding solutions to child labour at the Moderate Advancement level, according to the 2019 Findings on the Worst Forms of Child Labour Report from the United States Department of Labour.             Child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking have become more violent and complex. Labour Minister Presents 2.2M Baht to Support the Family of an Interpreter at the Labour Office in Riyadh

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presented assistance funds to the family of Mr. Mad Mamin, an interpreter at the Saudi Labour Office (Riyadh), as compensation for the end of his work, together with extra money and subsidies from the provident fund, which was given by the Prime Minister. The total amount was over two million and two hundred thousand Baht, to help and encourage the family of Mr. Mad Mamin.           On December 14, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave assistance funds to Mrs. Anurak Mamin, wife of Mr. Mad Mamin, an interpreter at the Saudi Labour Office (Riyadh), and her family as compensation for the end of her husband’s work. The amount was 1,851,643.67 Baht, together with a special allowance of 290,464.22 Baht, and a living fund to Mr. Mad Mamin’s family, who died from working and fulfilling his role to assist Thai workers in Saudi Arabia during the Covid-19 pandemic, amounting to 100,000 Baht from Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha. Deputy Labour Minister Visits Chiang Mai to Promote Workforce to Support Tourism

        The Deputy Labour Minister followed up on the results from efforts to promote tourism in Chiang Mai following the “Create-Elevate-Give; Uniting Thailand to Build a Nation” policy. She also observed the training provided by the Chiang Mai Institute for Skill Development 19 and emphasized that training be intense, relevant, and cover all target groups.         On December 12, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat visited Chiang Mai to follow up on the results from driving labour operations and listened to the departments’ performance under the Ministry of Labour. She also observed the training workshops of the Chiang Mai Institute of Skill Development 19, which provides training for local workers, and visited a garment group in Nam Phrae, Hang Dong, Hang Dong. Deputy Labour Minister Drives Workplace Safety Measures

           The Deputy Labour Minister invited companies to join the project on developing workplace safety, to upgrade organizations to international standards; participating in the project is free of cost.            On December 7, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat revealed that the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization) (TOSH) had conducted research studies on economic and social value-added to investment in safety in business establishments among 30 organizations. Study results concluded that organizations gain an added economic value of 51,795.53 Baht or equivalent to 3,341.65 Baht/organizations. In addition, when considering the added social value, companies can reduce the number of injuries from 302 to 294 people. Therefore, investment in workplace safety is worthwhile, promoting profits, and added economic and social value, reducing the rate of accidents in the workplace.           The Deputy Labour Minister added that the institute realizes the importance and is ready to support safety to be efficient and sustainable. Labour Minister Assigns Secretary-General to Commence Seminar on Driving Human Trafficking Prevention to Elevate Nation to Tier 1

         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Secretariat to commence a seminar to drive policy mechanisms to prevent and resolve labour trafficking for 2021.           On November 2, 2020, at 08.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the meeting to present policies to heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phuket, Krabi, Phangnga, Trang, Ranong, and Satun. Deputy Ministers of Labour and Agriculture and Cooperatives Partner to Resolve Water Management Issues in Nan

           The Deputy Labour Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives visited Nan to monitor work on agriculture, emphasizing shifting the agricultural workforce towards skilled labour for a better quality of life and sustainability.            On October 29, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat visited agricultural workers in Nan, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao, to listen to water management information and provide arable land for farmers at Wat Pong Kham, Santisuk, Nan.
