Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Commences 8th Cabling Contest in Developing People to the Global Arena

                The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour joined the commencement ceremony of the 8th Cabling Contest, to develop skills and raise the potential of labour to have the capability to compete in the world-class arena.

              On August 19, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat joined the commencement ceremony for the Bangkok qualifying round for the 8th Cabling Contest. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society Mr. Nevin Chochaithip presided over the opening ceremony at the Chao Phraya Ballroom, Ramada Hotel Chao Phraya Park. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour said, “The government gives importance to human resources development. The world today is a world of AI and digital technology; therefore, the Ministry of Labour has an important mission to develop the skills and increase workforce potential to drive the nation’s competitiveness. This will allow workers to enter into the system of employment, occupation, income, benefits, and protection according to the law, as well as having social security.”

                “The event today highlights the collaboration in the development of the country’s workforce. Youths participating in the competition, will obtain knowledge and academic skills, and in addition, learn about winning and losing, and discipline, which is essential in life. Today, workers cannot only be capable and academically smart but must have morality and ethics to be a peaceful society. I hope that the youths will bring knowledge and experiences gained from the competitions to develop further for the benefit of the country’s further development.”

                The Cabling Contest is organized to provide students with the opportunity to showcase their talents in the global competitive arena. It is an opportunity to represent Thailand in the Asian Skill Competition, and a chance to win from a prize pool worth over 400,000 Baht, together with a trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Prime Minister’s trophy and a trophy from the Minister of Digital Economy and Society.

                The competition encourages contestants to learn how to use cables more correctly. It provides opportunities for youths to learn and develop themselves in the field of technology, to be on par with foreign countries. The contest also encourages the correct use of cables and related equipment, promoting the efficient use of money and resources in imports from abroad. People with a background in engineering and cabling will have a proper understanding and will continue using cables in new ways and more effectively. Furthermore, educational institutions are developing and producing more specialists in this field for the future.
