Labour Minister Joins Meeting to Prepare for APEC Economic Area Leadership Meeting Hosted by Thailand in 2022

          Today (July 12, 2021) at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suchart Pornchaiwisetkun participated in the national committee meeting to prepare for the APEC Economic Area Leadership Meeting and related meetings during Thailand’s hosting of the 2022 APEC Meeting no. 2/2021. The meeting took place over the video conferencing system at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour, chaired by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha. The meeting acknowledged the report on the performance of the subcommittees in all four areas, namely the subject matter subcommittee, the subcommittee on ceremonies and administration, the subcommittee on security and traffic, and the public relations subcommittee. There are three priorities during Thailand’s hosting of the APEC meeting in 2022, consisting of 1) Trade and investment facilitation key deliverables to drive the establishment of a new Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) in the context of post-COVID-19 that balances sustainable growth and environmental protection.             On June 23, 2021, at 10.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the meeting to prepare an explanation to the Extraordinary Committee to consider the Budget Expenditure Act of the 2022 Fiscal Year.           On June 21, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Aumpun Thuwawit to participate in the subcommittee meeting to prepare for the APEC Economic Area Leadership Meeting and related meetings during Thailand’s hosting of the 2022 APEC Meeting no. 2/2021. The meeting was hosted online via the Cisco Webex program. The meeting monitored the progress of defining the main topics and determining the concrete outcomes of APEC in 2022, which Thailand will host. 15,224 Insured Persons Received Unemployment Benefits Worth Over 809M Baht

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that insured persons thanked the government and the Ministry of Labour for accelerating the SSO to consider unemployment benefits in the event of employment termination. The effort has helped 15,224 people receive their rightful compensation as soon as possible, in the amount of 809,916,800 Baht.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that insured persons were terminated from employment for various reasons and filed for unemployment benefits at the Social Security Office nationwide. In such cases, insured persons must receive unemployment benefits for 200 days, at the rate of 70 percent of the wages under the law. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan was concerned about workers in the social security system affected by the current economic conditions. MOL Spokesperson Gives Interview on 2022 Budget Preparations

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson to give an interview to reporters from the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) regarding the Ministry of Labour’s budget for 2022.           On January 20, 2021, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Prateep Songlamyong as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson, gave an interview to Ms. Nittaya Khunsim, a reporter from the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) regarding the budget for 2022, approved by the Cabinet. Labour Minister Presents Policies on Budgeting Expenditures for 2022

          On January 14, 2021, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the delivery of the Ministry of Labour’s policy on budgeting expenditures for 2022 to prepare an action plan according to the Ministry of Labour’s policy. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew, the Ministry of Labour’s executives and executives from the Bureau of the Budget, attended the meeting at the Sangsingkeaw meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.           The key action plans for 2022 include developing management and labour relations with technology, solving unemployment, promoting new hires, expanding and developing a social security system, preparing labour skills to support the country’s economic recovery, and preventing and solving human trafficking problems. MOL Commences Workshop on Preparation of Action Plan for Increasing Labour Productivity 2022-2027

                The Permanent Secretary of Labour commenced the workshop on the preparation of the Action Plan for Increasing Labour Productivity 2022-2027, to be used as a strategic plan and framework to improve the Thai labor productivity in a situation where the nation is facing various problems at present.               The Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol spoke as the chairman of the workshop on the preparation of an Action Plan for Increasing Labour Productivity 2022 – 2027, on August 21, 2020, 9.00 hours at the Baiyoke Sky Hotel in Bangkok. MOL Assists 22 Myanmar Employees in Chiang Rai on Unemployment Benefits from Covid-19 Virus Impacts

                The Ministry of Labour accelerated assistance for 22 Myanmar workers who were affected by the temporary suspension of business, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, for the workers to receive unemployment benefits.                 On April 22, 2020, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng revealed measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus among migrant workers. The Ministry of Labour has implemented urgent measures in the case of the Covid-19 virus outbreak to prevent and alleviate migrant workers, including 1) Delaying the approval of importing foreign workers beginning March 23rd until the situation returns to normal 2) Relaxation of foreign workers to stay in the Kingdom and continue to work until November 30, 2020 3) Prevention of the Covid-19 spread among foreign workers, in collaboration with the Thai Red Cross and the Ministry of Public Health in providing knowledge and understanding how to prevent the virus. MOL Prepares to Send 25 Youths to WorldSkills in Russia on August 22-27

               The Labour Minister gave a press conference on the delivery of Thai youths to participate in the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019, which will be held between August 22 to 27 in Kazan, Russia. Thailand sent 25 young people to compete in 23 branches, in 5 professional groups.           The Labour Minister commenced the 9th Abilympics Thailand 2019, which was participated by 222 people with disabilities, selected for 20 races on April 24-25 at Impact Muang Thong Thani Building 6. MOL Joins 22 Agencies to Create Awareness and Understanding of Government Work Among People in Local Areas

           The Permanent Secretary of Labour signed cooperation with 22 agencies to create awareness and understanding of relevant government policies and work among people in communities and local areas throughout the country.   Download Images              On February 11, 2019, Prime Minister, General Prayuth Chan-ocha chaired the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation on enhancing awareness among the community, joined by Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark at the Santimaitree Building (outer building) at the government houses. The signing was following the Cabinet’s resolution on October 11, 2016, which approved guidelines to enhance awareness and understanding among the people, requiring various government agencies to hold the duties and responsibilities to improve the awareness and understanding about the performance of the authorities. Each agency is assigned to create and send information related to the implementation of significant government policies, in a language easily understandable, concise, and produces clear communication channels.           On April 4, 2018, at 09.30, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor presided over the opening ceremony of the PIPO Training Center, along with Mr. René Robert, ILO Labor Expert in Asia and Pacific (ILO Representative). Ms. Anna Engblom, Senior Coordinator, Migrant Workers Promotion and Protection Program (Phase 2) TRIANGLE in ASEAN, attended the rehearsal of the trainees’ Workers at the center PIPO operations in 22 coastal provinces (85 assays) at the conference room at 5th Floor, Ministry of Labor.
