MOL Commences Training for Minister Counselors (on Labour) and Labour Advisors

            On August 23, 2021, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suchart Pornchaiwisetkun presided over the opening ceremony of the training and receiving the Labour Minister’s policy on the training program for Minister Counselors (on Labour) and Labour Advisors stationed in Overseas Labour Offices for the 2021 fiscal year. The training took place online via Zoom Meetings, at the Permanent Secretary of Labour’s meeting room, 7th floor, Ministry of Labour.             The training was held between August 23 -27, 2021. Today’s occasion was a report on the plans and performance results from Overseas Labour Offices by Minister Counselors (on Labour) and the supervision of Overseas Labour Offices by the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals. The effort was divided into regions as follows: 1. The Southeast Asia Region (Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore). 2. East Asia Region (Hong Kong, Japan, Republic of Korea, Taipei, and Kaohsiung), and 3. Labour Minister Assigns Secretariat to Receive Complains from Former Employees of Brilliant Alliance Terminated Without Compensation

          On August 18, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, and Advisor to the Labour Minister Dr. Chamlong Chuayrod to receive complaints from former employee representatives of Brilliant Alliance Co., Ltd., in Samut Prakan, where the employer closed the business and terminated employment without compensation. The company is situated at 393 Moo 17, Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan Province. The company’s business is producing women’s undergarments with 1,318 employees. Mr. Suthep said that the government is concerned about all employees in the event of layoffs due to the impact of the COVID-19. Today, he was assigned by Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin to receive complaints and meet with employees’ representatives to help protect workers in terms of legal benefits from the government and the Ministry of Labour.           Mr. Suthep said that from the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s report, the company had been closed since March 11 due to the impact of COVID-19 and economic conditions. Labour Minister Visits Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination Services for Section 33 Insured Persons

          On August 16, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin visited the COVID-19 vaccination service for insured persons in Bangkok at the facility in Central Rama 9, Ratchadaphisek Road, Huai Khwang, Bangkok. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, General Manager of Central Plaza Grand Rama 9 Ms. Ranida Rattanachaichot and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Vaccination Services for Section 33 Insured Persons in Rama 9

          On August 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson Mr. Prateep Songlamyong as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson, and the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, to visit the COVID-19 vaccination service for insured persons in the Bangkok area at the vaccination facility in Central Rama 9 and ShowDC. The sites are under the supervision of the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 3, with the capacity to vaccinate 1,500 people daily at each site. SSO Prepares 26 Vaccination Sites for Section 33 Insured Persons for Second Jab Starting August 16

          On August 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has carried out COVID-19 vaccinations. The first dose has been given to over 1.3 million Section 33 insured persons since June 7. The working group on the management and distribution of the vaccine has prepared a vaccination center to serve Section 33 insured persons with the second dose of vaccinations, which will begin on August 16, 2021. All vaccines are AstraZeneca branded.           Mr. Suchart said that the second dose of vaccinations would start on August 16, 2021, onwards. Insured persons are divided according to the following vaccination formula. The first is (AZ+AZ), insured persons who received the first dose as AstraZeneca and will be due for the second dose within 12-16 weeks. The second dose will be the same, that is AstraZeneca. Hawker Community Shows Appreciation for PM and Labour Minister in “Sharing Kindness from Shop to Worker” Project to Help with Income During COVID-19

          On August 9, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin met with the Chairman of the Bangkok Hawker Community, Ms. Yada Pornpetcharumpa, and members, who delivered a basket for encouragement ad thanks to Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha through the Labour Minister for assisting members of the Bangkok Hawker Community in making food boxes for worker camps in Bangkok. The effort follows the “sharing kindness from shop to workers” project. The occasion took place at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour. SSO Transfers Remedies Today via PromptPay to Section 33 Insured Persons in 3 Provinces under 9 Business Types

          On August 9, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress of paying remedies to workers and entrepreneurs following the measures to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 in highly controlled areas. The measure follows the Cabinet’s Resolution on July 20, 2021, which agreed to expand the area to remedy entrepreneurs and employees affected by the COVID-19 measures from 10 provinces to 13 provinces, adding Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The measures cover nine types of business, namely construction, accommodation and food services, art activities, entertainment and recreation, and other service activities, to nine branches, with the addition of transportation and storage, wholesale and retail, automotive repair, administrative, and support activities, professional activities in science and academia, and information and communication activities. The rate of payment and payment method remains the same. He said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned about workers and entrepreneurs affected by the measures to control the COVID-19 outbreaks. Section 33 Employers and Employees in the Three Provinces to Receive Remedies on August 9

          On July 31, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress of paying remedies to worker groups and businesses following the measures to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 in highly controlled areas. On July 20, 2021, the Cabinet Resolution agreed to expand the area to remedy businesses and employees affected by the Covid-19 measures from 10 provinces to 13 provinces, adding Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Ayutthaya. Labour Minister Delivers Consumer Goods to Support Charitable Organizations

          On July 27, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, and the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, to donate consumer goods which the Ministry of Labour received from the private sector, to support people suffering from the impact of COVID-19. The occasion took place at the foyer, 1st floor, Ministry of Labour. The goods were given to three charitable organizations. The first was the “Fueng Fah Center,” which received 5,000 packs of instant noodles, 1,000 bottles of drinking water, 5,000 hygiene masks, 100 bags of rice, 10 gallons of alcohol gel, and 1,000 bottles of vitamin water. Social Media Posts Commend PM and Labour Minister for “Sharing Kindness from Shops to Workers” Helping Stalls With Food Orders for Camp Site Workers to Overcome COVID-19

          The new wave of COVID-19 outbreaks has spread throughout the country, and CCSA decided to close construction worker’s campsites to restrict traveling and workers’ movement in the dark red provinces for one month to control the spread of COVID-19 in worker camp clusters. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has ordered the Ministry of Labour to issue measures to remedy impacted employees in worker camps, including compensation from force majeure at 50 percent of wages. Employers are asked for their cooperation in taking care of all three meals, whereas the Ministry of Labour will support consumer goods donated by the private sector through the Thai Contractors Association under H.M. The King’s Patronage. Additionally, the Ministry of Labour has sponsored food expenses, receiving food from traders.
