BFUN Meets with Labour Minister to Assist Bank Employees from the Merger of Thanachart and TMB

          The Banks and Financial Institutions Labour Unions Network met with the Labour Minister to discuss the merger of Thanachart Bank with TMB Bank, as employees from both banks are concerned about layoffs. The Labour Minister ordered the relevant agencies to take care of the employees in the case of terminations.           On September 27, 2019, at 10.00 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and committee, welcomed President of the Banks and Financial Institutions Labour Unions Network (BFUN) Mr. Vitit Sirisuwan and committee, who requested to meet and discuss the impact of the merger of TMB Bank with Thanachart Bank. Mr. Vitit said that the merger of Thanachart Bank and TMB Bank caused employees from both banks to be concerned about their futures and job security.             On September 27, 2019, at 13.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the Promotion of Occupational and Working Opportunities for the Elderly Subcommittee Meeting No. 3/2019. The meeting considered the guidelines for tax incentives to promote the employment of the elderly. Inspector-General of Labour Monitors Results from the Occupational Issues Alleviation Project in the City of Sweet Tamarind

            On May 31, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Tawat Benchatikul visited the Phetchabun Provincial Labour Office for an official inspection. After that, he visited the area to monitor the results of the project to resolve occupational issues at the Career and Cultural Development Center, Moo 7, Wang Sai Thong Nuea village, Subpee, Wang Pong, Phetchabun. Mr. Ekphan Chiratsathit, Mae Hong Son Labour Officer, acting  the Petchabun Labour Officer, alongside head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchabun, labour volunteers, community leaders and those who participated in the project to resolve occupational issues welcomed the visiting committee. In 2019, since January, the Phetchabun Labour Office has implemented the project to resolve occupational issues in Phetchabun province and organize activities to develop skills and recruited over 20 urgent roles to help victims of natural disasters / those who suffer from occupational problems, to have a temporary job. Secretariat to Labour Minister Partners with Companies and Deploys Medical Team for Health Checks in Samut Sakhon

          The Labour Minister assigned Secretariat to the Labour Minister Lt. Gen. Thai Pilots Association Presidents Consults Labour Minister on Oversupply of Pilots in the Market

        The Labour Minister welcomed President of the Thai Pilots Association to discuss the problem of oversupply of pilots after hundreds of graduating pilots have become unemployed.   Download Images           On September 11, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul welcomed President of the Thai Pilots Association Captain Sanong Yingcharoen, Vice President Captain Sittidech Muangsin and committee on courtesy call and visit to discuss the issue of unemployed Thai pilot graduates. The President of the Thai Pilots Association said that at present, the cumulative unemployment rate of newly graduated Thai pilots is as high as 600 people, as the trend in employment of pilots has increased in the past. Labour Minister Welcomes Automobile Labour Congress of Thailand President on Visit to Congratulate and Discuss Labour Issues for Stability at Work

           On September 11, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul welcomed President of the Automobile Labour Congress of Thailand (Mr. Manit Promkarikul) to meet and congratulate the Labour Minister on taking office. The two parties also discussed labour issues on work security, whereby the ministry’s senior executives also participated. Labour Minister Gives Interview to Daily News about SSO Policies

          Today (September 4, 2019) at 11.00 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul was interviewed by Daily News Editor Mr. Chanwit Soonthornkanjana, regarding the policy to extend the coverage of social security fund benefits in both the short and long term. He discussed the strategy to invest 1.9 trillion Baht in social security funds in Thailand and abroad to increase interest, create stability for the fund, and transparency, and to care for those excluded from the survey of vendors and independent occupational groups to enter the social security protection system. Labour Minister Speaks at G20 on Thailand’s Promotion of Elderly Employment for the Industry 4.0

         The Labour Minister and delegation attended the G20 (LEMM) Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting in Matsuyama, Japan, revealing Thailand’s promotion on employment for the elderly to develop their capabilities in technology to support the Industrial Revolution 4.0.         On September 2, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul and Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Phattana Phanfak, attended the G20 (LEMM) Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting between September 1-2, 2019 in Matsuyama, Japan. MOL Joins Reception in Japan

          Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul and Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Phattana Phanfak attended a reception organized by the governor of Ehime Prefecture and the mayor of Matsuyama, Japan, on August 31, 2019. The event showcased local art and culture and the city’s renowned products such as towels and oranges. The Minister of Labour had the opportunity to meet with Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Mr. Guy Ryder, Indonesian Minister of Manpower H.E. Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri, representatives from the United States of America and representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. MOL Awards Medalists from WorldSkills Kazan 2019

          On Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Grand Ballroom, the Emerald Hotel, Din Daeng, Bangkok, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul presided over the award ceremony for the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019, held between August 22-27, 2019, in Kazan, Russia.   Download Images            Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul said that from the participation of Thai youths in the 45th National Skills Competition in Kazan, Russia, the Thai youths won 2 bronze medals and 12 commendation medals, from 25 people competing in a total of 23 branches. Today, the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development (DSD) has organized a ceremony to present certificates and awards to the participants in this competition, to give morale to all dedicated young people creating excellent outcomes and fame for the nation. Each bronze medalist was awarded 124,000 Baht, and each commendation medalist was awarded 51,000 Baht. 14 Thai Crew Members Cast Off in Somalia Return to Thailand and 6 Return to Iranian Employer

         Today (August 30, 2019) M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul welcomed 14 Thai fishing crew members afloat in the sea in Somalia, arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 07.25 hours (August 30). All 14 crew members gave garlands to show their gratitude to the assistance provided to travel back to Thailand safely. The Labour Minister stressed that Thai workers traveling abroad for work do so correctly by the law, to ensure protection and avoid exploitation. Workers must also notify the Department of Employment about moving. The Ministry of Labour is prepared to apply for membership to help fund job seekers working overseas, to ensure the rights and benefits of employees and to help workers in trouble abroad. As for tracking the wage accrued from the employer, including the benefits that workers will receive, the Ministry of Labour and related agencies will provide further assistance.          Labour Minister M.R. Labour Minister Help Laid-Off GM Employees to Receive Legal Protection and Compensation Quickly

          รัThe Labour Minister assigned officers to discuss with GM representatives in the case of staff layoffs to ensure employees will receive benefits and legal protection quickly.          On August 30, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul spoke about the case of the reduction of employees of General Motors Powertrain (Thailand) Company Limited or GM. The Ministry of Labour has continuously monitored the situation. In this case, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare was urged to investigate the facts to help terminated employees receive legal benefits.          M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul instructed the agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Rayong to investigate the situation. There were joint discussions between company representatives and the Rayong Labour Protection and Welfare Office. General Motors Powertrain (Thailand) Company Limited is located at 111/1 Moo 4, Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Pluak Daeng, Pluak Daeng, Rayong. Assistant to Permanent Secretary joins 4th Employment Working Group

          Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Pattana Phanfak led the delegation attending the 4th Employment Working Group (EWG) in Matsuyama, Japan, between August 29-30, 2019. The meeting’s objective was to develop the draft the Minister’s Declaration on Labour and Employment G20 for 2019, finalize the direction of the future of work, with the people as the center before certification at the Ministerial Meeting on Labour and Employment G20 between September 1-2, 2019.
