National Reform Subcommittee on Labour Meets Tourism and Service Sector Business Operators in Phuket to Monitor Recovery After Covid-19 Eases

            Chairperson of the National Reform Subcommittee on Labour in the Labour Committee, the Senate, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, and the committee visited Phuket to listen to issues regarding the labour situation from the tourism and service sector operators, head of government, and representatives from the labour sector, including workers and employers affected by Covid-19, to accelerate the recovery of the labour and businesses towards a strong economy.

            Chairperson of the National Reform Subcommittee on Labour in the Labour Committee, the Senate, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, said that the National Reform Subcommittee on Labour visited Phuket to hear from the public and entrepreneurs affected by Covid-19, regarding labour issues. The committee also listened to a briefing about the labour situation in the tourism and service sectors from the heads of government agencies in Phuket and representatives from operators of tourism and services. The committee traveled to two areas. The first was at Phuket City Hall, whereby Phuket Governor Mr. Narong Woonchiew, gave a welcoming.

            Mr. Jarin continued that the second place of visit was at Wyndham Sea Pearl Resort Phuket, located at 12 Phrabarami Road, Patong, Kathu, Phuket, to study and meet business operators the hospitality sector. The meeting was followed by a study and observation of operators in the service sector in the massage and spa business and listened to operators’ problems and obstacles impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The provincial data showed that after the Covid-19 pandemic, food and transportation prices have increased, tourism operators and tourism personnel have lost income. The province’s reputation was affected by a large number of infection cases. However, now that Covid-19 in Thailand is under control, although foreign tourists can still travel to Thailand and Phuket, the province itself has adjusted to new travel plans. This is especially in food, products, and services price adjustments, including travel expenses, which have lowered to meet local traveler’s needs and stimulate domestic tourism in Phuket.
