On September 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave a report after the Social Security Office (SSO) opened for Section 40 insured person applications for those affected by COVID-19 in 3 provinces, namely Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and then16 additional provinces in the highest and strictest controlled areas, namely Kanchanaburi, Samut Songkhram, Suphan Buri, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Ang Thong, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Lopburi, Rayong, Sing Buri, Saraburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phetchabun, and Tak. On August 27, 2021, at 16.15 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew presided over the opening ceremony of the Design Thinking training program for driving organizations with innovation. The occasion occurred at the Human Resources Management Division’s meeting room, 10th floor, Ministry of Labour. The training was a 2-day course with the trainees being civil servants at the operational level, proficiency level, and special skill level under the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour, totaling 40 people. He said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned about self-employed people in agriculture, fisheries, hawker stalls, taxi groups, general contractors, restaurant staff, front desk staff, singers, musicians, night workers, and freelancers, who have applied for Section 40 to receive 5,000 Baht per person in compensation. On August 21, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the transfer of remedies under relief measures for workers and companies affected by COVID-19 in the 29 highest controlled provinces. As of yesterday (August 20, 2021), two relief payments have been made. The first is remedies to Section 33 insured persons in the 16 provinces for 249,235 people. A total of 217,817 transactions were successful, accounting for 87 percent; 31,418 were unsuccessful, accounting for 13 percent. The successful transfers were valued at 544,542,500 Baht. The second payments were to employers in the 13 provinces for 16,621 establishments. A total of 16,364 transactions were successful, accounting for 98.4 percent; 257 were unsuccessful, accounting for 1.6 percent. The successful transfers were valued at 694,446,000 Baht.
