Labour Minister Commences Seminar with Labour Commission to Drive Job Expo 2020 this September in Partnership with the Private Sector to Support Unemployed Workers

               The Labour Minister commenced the seminar on “promoting cooperation in the implementation of organizational missions between the Labour Commission and the Ministry of Labour to promote productivity and create peace in the national industrial society in all dimensions, in vulnerable provinces and areas in Bangkok.” The seminar also gave a special lecture on “the Ministry of Labour’s management policies and missions amid the Covid-19 pandemic and its Impact on the workforce”. Labour Minister Expresses Condolences to Deceased Worker from Israel in State Quarantine and Five Workers in Saudi Arabi from Covid-19 Infections

                The Labour Minister expressed his condolences for the death of a 39-year-old Thai worker after staying in quarantine to monitor Covid-19 symptoms after returning to Thailand and staying for only one day. The Buriram Provincial Labour Office and agencies in Buriram were ordered to contact relatives for support. The Labour Minister had a teleconference with the Minister Counsellor on Labour about 5 Thai workers in Saudi Arabia who have died from Covid-19 infections. He showed concern for Thai workers and ordered officials to monitor the situation closely.                 Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin shared his condolences for the case of a 39-year-old Thai worker who returned from Israel, who decided to jump from the balcony of a hotel in State Quarantine and died during their stay in quarantine to monitor Covid-19 symptoms, after returning to Thailand for only one day. From a preliminary investigation, the deceased was aged 39, from Buriram. They had traveled to work in Israel with SHMVEL GAMMIL and had worked with the employer for five years and three months since July 2014. MOL and Chitralada Institute Upskill Students for a Quality Workforce

                The Labour Minister visited the Chitralada Institute of Technology to promote cooperation projects between the Ministry of Labour and Chitralada Institute of Technology to develop standards and labour skill testing to drive the labor market quality.                 On August 27, 2020, at 15.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Ministry of Labour’s executives met Dr.Khunying Sumonta Promboon, the President of Chitralada Institute of Technology to visit the cooperation project between the Ministry of Labour and Institute in accelerating skill standard testing for students promote a quality workforce at Chitralada Institute of Technology, Rajasuda Sompob Building (604), the Royal Office of Sanam Suapa, Bangkok.                 The Ministry of Labour has cooperated with Chitralada Institute to coordinate vocational training and prepare with Chitralada School (Vocational) in professional clubs since 2007. M.P. Anusee Gives Survival Bags and Baking Equipment to a Disabled Youth in Samsen Community

            M.P. Anusaree Tubsuwan, Member of the House of Representatives and spokesperson for the Labour Commission, As the president of “Anusee Institute for Unity,” collaborated with the chairperson of the Royal Thai Police, Samosorn Lions Wasukri Club, Samsen Police Station Director of Dusit District and executives of Supreme Complex Samsen, to provide survival bags, rice, dried food to communities in the affected areas of Covid-19. They gave baking equipment to Makham, a handicapped youth involved in an accident, but was determined to have an income to support the family and intend to study further. Makham has sparked inspiration, and their contact details were taken to follow up on their education.              On this occasion, M.P. Anusee participated in drawing on the map of Thailand. She painted a blue heart to wish Thais to have a blue heart and to love each other. She thanked the chairperson of the Royal Thai Police, Samsen, and all agencies for allowing participating in this activity. Labour Minister Gives Interview to Daily New Newspaper on Caring for Over 38M Workers

            On August 27, 2020, at 08.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave an interview to Daily News newspaper on taking care of over 38 million workers by promoting skills development to up-skill and re-skill, providing workers with skills that can support them during the Covid-19 situation. The efforts are under the MOU in collaboration with the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, Ministry of Education. Through the MOU, the parties exchange information on vocational needs in line with the labour market and increase efficiency in preventing and resolving human trafficking, to upgrade the nation to Tier 1. Efforts are also aimed towards increasing social security benefits by encouraging employees to be aware of their safety and health, take good care, and prevent diseases from work. This also includes developing a Big-Data database system to serve people, ensuring information is accurate, prompt, and timely. Labour Minister Gives Condolences to Thai Worker Who Passed from Covid-19; Orders Agencies to Support the Family

                The Labour Minister expressed his condolences for the death of a Thai worker from Covid-19 in Saudi Arabia. He ordered the Counsellor Minister on Labour to track outstanding wages and the Provincial Labour Office and agencies in Lampang to inform relatives and support the deceased’s family.                 Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave his condolences to the death of a Thai worker from Covid-19 in Saudi Arabia. The incident was reported by Commander Lieutenant Vittavat Koodprasert, Minister Counselor (on Labour) from the Labour Office in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh). The report stated that on August 26, 2020, at 11.00 hours, the Labour Office in Riyadh coordinated with the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh, saying that a 67-year-old Thai worker who was treated for Covid-19 had passed away. MOL Trains Civil Servants on Technological Changes in the 4.0 Era

                The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour commenced the training program to provide knowledge on the management of the National Labour Data Center and to utilize the data to become Provincial Big Data, which will help to develop digital capabilities of personnel within the organization. Deputy Labour Minister Monitors Skill Development Activities Following the National Strategy for 2020; States that the Skill Development Fund has Supported Businesses and Skills Training for Many Workers

                Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat attended a meeting with the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul to follow up on the mission of the Department of Skill Development following the national strategy for 2020. The Department of Skill Development, under the strategies on safety, capacity building, development, and empowerment of human resources and the social equality goal of 3,827,200 people, with a result of 4,419,890 people                 The Skill Development Fund has a capital of 1,118,337,416,33 Baht. A total of 432 companies have been approved for a total of 267,546,248 Baht in loans. A total of 71,034 workers have received skill training. From the Covid-19 pandemic, = measures were implemented to support businesses with loans from the Skill Development Fund, by deferring the debt repayment period in 44 places and extending the repayment period, 37 places. MOL Coordinations with Labour Volunteers in Beirut to Take Consumer Goods to Help Thai Workers

          The Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson reported that the Ministry of Labour, by the Minister Counsellor (on Labour), in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), where the Labour Office in Riyadh oversees Thai workers in Lebanon joined Beirut labour volunteers in taking dry food to injured and affected Thai workers.           Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Thaenrat Nawamawat, as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson, revealed that she had received additional reports from Commander Lieutenant Vittawat Kuprasert, Minister Counselor (on Labour), in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), where the Labour Office in Riyadh oversees Thai workers in Lebanon. The reports updated the progress from the violent explosions in Beirut, Lebanon. Third Thai Worker Injured from Beirut Explosion is Treated and Safe

                The Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson reported that there were Thai workers injured in the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. There was a third case reported recently, whereby the worker has been treated and sent to recover at an accommodation. Meanwhile, the Labour Ambassador has coordinated with overseas labour volunteers to organize subsistence bags to visit Thai workers.                 Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Thienrat Nawamawat, as the Ministry of Labour’s spokesperson, revealed further reports from Commander Lieutenant Vittavat Koodprasert, Minister Counselor (on Labour), in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), where the Labour Office in Riyadh oversees Thai workers in Lebanon. Permanent Secretary of Labour Commences Training on Organization Builders for the Ministry of Labour

            The Permanent Secretary of Labour commenced the Master Manager for Happy Workplace training program from the project on “creating a model well-being organization to improve workers’ quality of life sustainably”. The training aims to utilize the knowledge, ability and experience received from the training to design and create action plans to drive the well-being of the organization and for happy employees and a happy workplace.             On July 8, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the commencement of the Master Manager for Happy Workplace training program from the project on “creating a model well-being organization to improve workers’ quality of life sustainably”. MOL Working Group Meets to Consider Establishment of Agreement on International Labour Cooperation

          On May 27, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the meeting of the Working Group on the Establishment of the International Labour Cooperation Agreement No.1/2020, in the case of sending Thai workers to work in the agricultural sector temporarily in Israel under the TIC project. The meeting discussed and summarized the main content and (draft) agreement between the Government of Israel and the Government of Thailand regarding the temporary employment of Thai labour in Israel’s agricultural sector. MOL Meets on Prevention of Forced Labour and Human Trafficking

          Today (May 27, 2020) at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the second subcommittee meeting on Labour Prevention and Trafficking in 2020. Secretariat to the Labour Minister Lt. Gen. Nanthadet Meksawat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Aumpun Thuvavit along with relevant departments also attended the meeting which took place at the Prasong Rananant meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour building.           Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan’s visit and delivery of policy to the Ministry of Labour on May 1, 2020, where he had expressed concern about the foreign labour situation following the COVID-19 pandemic. He had ordered for the oversight and prevention of labour rights violations from occurring, especially with workers in the fishing sector.
