Labour Minister Receives Consumer Goods from Private Sector to Support Workforce Overcome COVID-19

          On September 14, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin received consumer goods from three groups from the private sector for the Ministry of Labour to help workers affected by COVID-19. The first group was Mr. Takahaki Kobayashi, Director of Kitz (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and the Kitz Labour Union of Thailand. The group donated 800 bags of rice packed in 5 kg bags and some dry foods. The second group was Mr. Warawong Tangkitvet, President of Vanda Pack Co., Ltd., and the team, which gave 50,000 sets of food boxes and food cups with lids.           On September 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin observed vocational training courses and the training program for specifically targeted workers to promote career opportunities in the Thai commercial cooking branch at the College of Labour building, Department of Skill Development. MOL Spokesperson Reports Labour Minister’s Response to PM Orders Supporting Taxi Drivers Through Section 40 of the Social Security and Survival Bags to Alleviate COVID-19 Impact

          On September 9, 2021, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, spoke about the case where the media spread the news that taxi drivers over 65 years of age did not receive COVID-19 relief payments from the government. In this regard, the Ministry of Labour would like to clarify that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, has foreseen the hardships and cares for workers in independent professions such as taxi drivers, who have been affected by lockdown measures in the highest control areas amid the COVID-19 situation. Therefore, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin instructed the Social Security Office to recruit self-employed persons under 65 to apply as Section 40 insured persons to receive COVID-19 relief payments of 5,000 Baht from the government. In addition, the Ministry of Labour has distributed over 6,000 survival bags to taxi drivers through the Foundation for Taxi Drivers and rice to over 10,000 taxi drivers. Section 40 Insured Persons in 19 Provinces Who Applied and Paid Contributions on August 24 Can Check Eligibility Today

          On September 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave a report after the Social Security Office (SSO) opened for Section 40 insured person applications for those affected by COVID-19 in 3 provinces, namely Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and then16 additional provinces in the highest and strictest controlled areas, namely Kanchanaburi, Samut Songkhram, Suphan Buri, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Ang Thong, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Lopburi, Rayong, Sing Buri, Saraburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phetchabun, and Tak. Section 40 insured persons are eligible to 5,000 Baht per person.
