On February 18, 2021, at 10.00 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, chaired the training’s commencement on improving competencies in answering inquiries and advice via the Ministry of Labour’s 1506 hotline to serve people more efficiently. The meeting took place at the Grand Mercure Bangkok Fortune Hotel. The training aims to give participants the knowledge and understanding of responding to inquiries and resolving labour issues more accurately and quickly. It will also practice recording the data about the complaints/grievances to the Ministry of Labour through the MIS system to facilitate staff in recording the statistics of complaints/grievances to the Ministry of Labour from every channel. The data can then be reported to executives more effectively. This training program consists of hotline operators in the Ministry of Labour’s 1506 hotline, among all departments under the Ministry of Labour and relevant officials from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, totaling 50 people. Representatives from 15 employee organization councils and the State Enterprise Worker’s Federation of Thailand met with the Labour Minister to propose problems and solutions to the impact of Covid-19 and the effects from layoffs, including workforce reductions in the workplace. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo along with the ministry’s management presented money from the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund to the families of the workers who died from the fire at CentralWorld Department Store on April 10, 2019, at the Labour Minister’s meeting room, 6th Floor, Ministry of Labour. The incident resulted in two deaths of workers in the social security system, whom both died at the scene, and 15 injured people from dangers from work. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labour, welcomed Mr. Preeda Limnontakul, President of the Network for the Protection of the Rights of the Disabled on the occasion of his visit to discuss the case which Mr. Preeda submitted a letter to the National Human Rights Commission asking to investigate the violation and unfair treatment of persons with disabilities under Section 33, which provides for the employment of persons. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor, revealed that Mr. Pridi Limnontakul, President of the Network for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, had submitted a letter to the National Human Rights Commission to investigate violations and unfair practices in the employment of persons with disabilities, the Ministry of Labor is responsible for hiring persons with disabilities under Section 33 of the Royal Decree to promoting and improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities, BE 2550 (2007) and Amending (No. 2), BE 2556. Establishments with 100 workers must employ one disabled person if more than 50 people have to hire one person. By 2018, 64,576 people with disabilities are entitled to work in the workplace.
