            The Ministry of Labour organized a job fair at Thaksin University, Songkhla Campus, Muang, Songkhla. The event hosted many activities, such as meeting with workers, recruiting employees with over 1,000 job vacancies, practicing and demonstrating freelance jobs, accepting registrations to work abroad and career counseling to enhance the quality of life and reduce inequalities, following government policy.           The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and committee visited the operations, management and registration of foreign workers who came to work in Bahrain. There are 1,742 Thai workers in Bahrain, 71 of whom were illegal.             On May 31, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Tawat Benchatikul visited the Phetchabun Provincial Labour Office for an official inspection. After that, he visited the area to monitor the results of the project to resolve occupational issues at the Career and Cultural Development Center, Moo 7, Wang Sai Thong Nuea village, Subpee, Wang Pong, Phetchabun. Mr. Ekphan Chiratsathit, Mae Hong Son Labour Officer, acting  the Petchabun Labour Officer, alongside head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchabun, labour volunteers, community leaders and those who participated in the project to resolve occupational issues welcomed the visiting committee. In 2019, since January, the Phetchabun Labour Office has implemented the project to resolve occupational issues in Phetchabun province and organize activities to develop skills and recruited over 20 urgent roles to help victims of natural disasters / those who suffer from occupational problems, to have a temporary job.          The “Deputy Permanent Secretary” participated in the commencement of the Workshop on Strengthening Capacity and Coordination on Prevention and Investigation of Trafficking in Person for Forced Labour at Luang Prabang, Laos. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in Laos.           This meeting aimed to create a common understanding between law enforcement agents on labour rights violations. forced labour and human trafficking, to labour inspectors and police to suppress human trafficking, whereby a total of 80 people attended.           On May 5, 2019, at 23.00 hours, His Majesty the King rode in the Royal Palanquin in the Royal Procession for an elaborate post-coronation procession.            The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul led staff from the Labour Office in Singapore and related agencies under the Ministry of Labour to meet Thai workers in the construction industry. He also gave a testament and gave gifts to boost the morale of Thai workers.   Download Images              On April 29, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul and committee met Thai workers at KTC Construction and Engineering Pte Ltd, a business in the construction industry, primarily related to civil engineering, basic infrastructure and large machinery. The company is certified by various government agencies of the Singaporean Ministry of Manpower and has worked in the construction of multiple landmarks in Singapore such as Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and public transportation stations. It has also been employed by Singaporean government agencies such as the Land Transport Authority.             On April 29, 2019, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Tosapol Kritawongwiman, to chair the opening of a workshop to increase labour volunteers’ efficiency in the Bangkok area, at The Palazzo Hotel, Bangkok. DOWNLOAD IMAGES             The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Todsaphon Kritwongwiman said that the Ministry of Labour established the Bangkok labour volunteer group in 2018 under the Ministry of Labour’s Regulations on Labour Volunteers, B.E. 2548. Currently, there are 953 labour volunteers in Bangkok, consisting of 253 from the first batch, 300 from the second batch and 400 from the third batch. Their responsibilities are to: 1) Disseminate information on labour 2) Coordinate the implementation of work on labour between the Ministry of Labour and people in local areas 3) Promote the prevention labour issues at the local level 4) Store labour information, and 5) Other duties assigned by the Ministry of Labour. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo invited the relevant agencies to discuss ways to prevent and solve the issue of Thai workers being tricked and smuggled to work in South Korea. The discussion acknowledged opinions and suggestions regarding plans to arrest/prosecute people smuggling workers to work in South Korea, blocking job seekers looking to work illegally and blacklisting tourism operators illegally smuggling Thai workers to work in South Korea. The meeting discussed the research outline on the policy and guidelines for labour development, driving the economy for the future, to study the overall labour market in the future and the need for labor in various professional fields.              The Labour Minister reported the overall results of the “Happy Songkran, Happy Workers” activity for 2019, whereby over 330,000 migrant workers traveled home to join the Songkran tradition and returned. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo reported the overall results of the ministry’s “Happy Songkran, Happy Workers” 2019 activities. He said that migrant workers returning home during the Songkran festival from April 5-20, 2019, showed records of over 330,898 people, comprising 210,998 people departures and 119,900 arrivals. Myanmar nationals traveled the most with 187,053 people, followed by 70,618 Cambodian nationals and 73,227 Laotian nationals. Immigration points with the highest number of departures and arrivals were in Tak with 148,023 people, followed by Sa Kaeo with 44,963 people, Ubon Ratchathani with 26,821 people, Mukdahan with 26,578 people and Chanthaburi with 21,495 people.              Pol.Gen.              The Labour Minister showed concern for workers suffering from fire at Central World and reiterated that the 2 deceased workers’ families would receive social security benefits and compensation totaling over 2.8 million Baht. Furthermore, medical expenses and disbursements would be paid for the 15 injured people. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare will investigate and if the employer is found in violation with safety laws, it will be prosecuted immediately.             On April 11, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E.
