Chatumongol Sonakul, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul, the Social Security Office’s Deputy Secretary Ms. Aumpun Thuvavit, the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Ministry of Labour’s executives, visited the Ubon Ratchathani Social Security Office located at 317/1 Phalachai Road, Nai Mueang, Mueang, Ubon Ratchathani. The Labour Minister received a briefing on operations of urgent policies and guidelines for driving the social security network throughout Thailand through the villages, temples, schools, and factories of the Ubon Ratchathani Social Security Office. The Permanent Secretary of Labour commenced the “Labour Eyes” training program to support and create public participation in anti-corruption, with society working together to prevent corruption and misconduct, committed to preventing corruption in all aspects. On Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol presided over the commencement of the training program to support and create public participation in the fight against corruption, called the “Labour Eyes” project. He announced the intent of the Ministry of Labour, joining forces with the Workplace Anti-Corruption Network, at the Grand Palazzo Room, 7th Floor, The Palazzo Hotel, Ratchadaphisek Road, Bangkok. He said that in the past, the government has tried to improve and strengthen mechanisms, including the determination of measures to prevent and suppress corruption in every dimension. On January 29, 2020, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Labour Advisor Mrs. Napasorn Toongsooksai to welcome Independent Social Protection Expert Dr. Mel Cousins, under the project on accelerating progress towards an integrated and modernized Social Protection System for All in Thailand. The program is a joint project of UN agencies such as the ILO, UNICEF, the IOM, and UN WOMEN and aims to study the overview of social protection in Thailand. The Labour Minister instructed agencies under the Ministry of Labour in integration with relevant NGOs to monitor progress and support the rights and benefits of Thai fishing workers returning from Somalia successfully. On January 28, 2020, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul spoke about the progress of helping to monitor the benefits for Thai fishermen returning from Somalia, from the case of 32 Thai fishermen who were adrift while fishing in Somalia and received assistance to return to Thailand in August 2019.
