The compensation was worth 370,888 Baht, and the occasion took place at Wat Dan Samrong, Samut Prakan. She emphasized that the Social Security Office would ensure migrant workers’ rights equal to that of Thai workers. The Deputy Labour Minister emphasized that the 2021 budget has commenced and invited the workforce to apply for skills development programs or national labour skill standards assessments in all occupations to raise the level of workmanship and to receive standard wage rates. Currently, 83 programs have been announced, with the profession earning the most at 815 Baht per day. Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat revealed that in 2021, the Department of Skills Development has allocated 1,742,087,000 million Baht and has a target to develop skills 4,129,910 people in the workforce, comprising of 4,000,000 employees through employer training programs and 129,910 people through the DSD’s programs. The Deputy Labour Minister reported the number of workers who have passed skills training in the past year, accelerating forward to raise the workforce’s standard, driving the country’s economy. On September 25, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported the Department of Skill Development’s performance for the 2020 fiscal year, with the set target of 3,827,200 people. A total of 4,728,485 people has gone through skills development, consisting of 136,882 people. The DSD conducted training for and 4,591,603 people through encouraging organizations under the Skill Development Promotion Act B.E. 2545 and amendment No. 2, B.E. 2557. In the DSD portion, there are many interesting projects such as the logistics personnel development project in collaboration with the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA), with 323 new graduates from the undergraduate level, training, and entering the logistics market. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin showed concern for the incident where a crane fell on workers in Nonthaburi, resulting in the death of one worker. The Ministry of Labour has ordered the provincial Labour Welfare and Protection Office, including the Social Security Office in Nonthaburi to investigate the incident, gather evidence, and check the insurance status of the worker in order to provide assistance and benefits following their eligibility. The incident happened today (August 21, 2020) at 11.15 hours. A crane had fallen on workers at the construction site for Kunalai Westgate Village on Ban Kluai Sai Noi Road, Phimon Rat, Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi. Mr. Suchart said that from a preliminary investigation, the name of the deceased worker was Mr. Raisit Laoprom, aged 43, an employee of White Design Co., Ltd. in the position of a crane driver. The Labour Minister expressed concern for all 47 Thai workers who returned from the Philippines, due to COVID-19 impacts. All crew members will be quarantined at a state-provided facility for 14 days, to be monitored during the incubation period for COVID-19. He urged the Department of Employment to inspect and examine the crews’ membership status of the overseas job seekers’ assistance fund to provide the necessary assistance. He instructed the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare to monitor and inspect employers who use Section 75, to strictly comply with the law, as well as reiterated that the Ministry of Labour’s inspectors help monitor businesses nationwide that are temporarily suspended, ensuring compliance with the Labour Protection Act 2541, Section 75.
